Connie Matisse
Hey, I’m Connie 🐸 👋 I co-founded and operated East Fork, a B Corp certified manufacturer of ceramic dinnerware. My work in that organization is likely how you’ve come to be on my website, but I hope one day that fellow Tolkien-nerds find me through my LotR writing project. If you have, please tell me—it would make my week. I’d never intended to be a business owner and didn’t have any previous interest in clay before I started building East Fork with Alex. He was practically made of the stuff but my interest, if I’m being honest, was in getting Alex to think I was really smart and useful t keep around. I had a knack for storytelling that I already knew about but also, turns out, had a knack for business operations. Together with our partner, John Vigeland, and our ever-growing team, we turned a small Southern craft pottery studio into the most influential ceramic manufacturer in the United States.
I’m proud of the work I did at East Fork, but it was never really my work to do. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, as was my Mom and Dad and Grandpa Joe and Grandpa Jim, and so I identify proudly as an Angeleno. I’ve identified as queer since I was fourteen but don’t make much of that publicly because the discourse-of-it-all is so fraught, but that lifelong identifier stands for all the mirrors and colorful doo-dads in the kaleidoscope through which I view the world. If you wanna talk about it, we can.
I identify as anti-capitalist, abolitionist, who believes . I . My understanding of how we , and what my role is in the work, are always evolving. Right now I’m.
If you’re here because you’r thinking about paying me real money to assess your brand and business fitness or help restructure your revenue model, I guess I can identify as systems thinker, .
